This week:
Across the country, 10 major programs are investing roughly $5.3 BILLION into stadium projects — from completely rebuilding sections of century-old venues to adding premium clubs, suites and massive new hospitality spaces.
Florida alone is planning a $1.45 billion transformation of The Swamp, while Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State and Oklahoma each have projects valued at $450 million or more.
And surprisingly, these projects aren't necessarily about making stadiums bigger. Programs are increasingly spending hundreds of millions to improve the fan experience, add premium seating, and turn stadiums into year-round revenue generators.
So this week, I'm breaking down 10 of the biggest stadium projects in college football — and where all that money is actually going.

🐊 Florida — The Swamp | $1.45B
At $1.45 billion, it would be one of the largest college football stadium renovations ever.
Florida is planning a massive modernization of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium while preserving The Swamp's iconic bowl and atmosphere.
🏟️ Capacity expected to remain around 88,000

🦁 Penn State — Beaver Stadium | $700M
Penn State's renovation is transforming the west side of Beaver Stadium while keeping capacity above 100,000.

Nebraska's Big Red Rebuild combines a major renovation with approximately $200 million in deferred maintenance.

In return, Oklahoma plans to add:

🌾 Kansas — David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium | $448M*
The $448M figure covers the broader first phase of the Gateway project, not exclusively stadium construction.
Kansas incorporated its stadium transformation into the much larger Gateway District.

The Bigger Trend
These projects aren't simply about adding more seats.
In fact, Oklahoma is removing thousands of them.
College football programs are increasingly prioritizing premium seating, hospitality, technology and year-round revenue over maximizing raw capacity.
And these are just 10 programs.
Across college football, billions more are being poured into stadium renovations as schools try to turn venues built decades—or even a century—ago into modern entertainment destinations.
